PEACE AND UNITY OF NIGERIA; NEGOTIABLE OR NOT: By Ajani Kayode FOSSU OAU

PEACE AND UNITY OF NIGERIA; NEGOTIABLE OR NOT.
By: Ajani Kayode
When talking about negotiating peace and unity in Nigeria, we must first ascertain without any modicum of doubt the kind of negotiation we are talking about. When we refer to negotiation, do we mean discussing with the secessionists in the East? or Boko Haram terrorists in the North? the Badoo cult in the West? Or militants in the South? obviously not.
The kind of Negotiation I envisage is an all inclusive one in which every Nigerian will be given the opportunity to contribute on any matter and in any manner in an attempt to provide solutions to our already established multi faceted problems.
In addition, while negotiating we should endeavor not to forget our differences, we have to live together as a people accepting our difference as our success lies in our collective effort and cooperation. We all have to understand that we have been made differently and are from different backgrounds, and also of different talents. We have all been endowed with our respective blessings in terms of resources either mineral or material. No tribe, region or state can have everything. In this light we need to come together and cross fertilize ideas on how to move this Country forward. It is in this basis I recommend the following:
Restructuring should feature either going back to the Regional government system or Geo-political zone
Each Regional/State should come up with her own Blue Print for Development
Citizens should be enlightened on their Duty and Obligation towards the state
The rights of the citizens should be protected and right to  basic social amenities should granted to citizen
The government should stop selling National Asset and embark in building more public Corporation and financing the existing ones
Providing enabling environment/laws for entrepreneur's and
If we really want to achieve all these and many more then Negotiation must take place between all stakeholders and good people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria . For this reason Peace and Unity of Nigeria is necessary and it's negotiation is non negotiable.
Till I write again I remain Ajani Kayode a student of Obafemi Awolowo University.

What is the meaning of the word Yoruba?

What is the meaning of the word Yoruba? Have you always thought about where the word Yoruba originated from? Have you heard many misconception and misapprehension that left you baffled? That was what got hold of me too so I decided to dig into it. What is the meaning of Yoruba? Does it have any inclination to our language? This is a thought provoking topic that needs profound reasoning and intense research for better understanding. It is time we faced the monster that keeps trailing us whom many try to ignore. In Yoruba culture, appellation is often derived from a prerequisite factor or foretelling. For fact telling, some name their child Owolabi hoping the child will bring fortune to the family, another one is that almost all Yoruba towns have their names derived from an event or a factor as illustrated in; Eba-Odan – Ibadan, Abe Okuta Olumo – Abeokuta and Ibi ti Ile ti yo – Oyo and so forth. However, these factors appear not partake in the word Yoruba. I asked a ...

I don’t need high chiefs’ endorsement to install chiefs —Olubadan

I don’t need high chiefs’ endorsement to install chiefs —Olubadan by Olufemi Atoyebi, Ibadan The Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Adetunji, has said he does not need the endorsement of the high chiefs before he can confer honorary traditional titles on recipients. Our correspondent learnt that the monarch will on November 11, 2017, honour the Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, with the title of Agbaakin Afiwagboye of Ibadan land, and others. This development, observers noted, could further deepen the crisis between the Olubadan and some of his high chiefs, who were elevated by the Oyo State Governor Abiola Ajimobi to the status of kings recently. The new kings had opposed the move by the Olubadan to confer traditional titles on Shittu and others on Saturday (tomorrow). But speaking through his Director, Media and Public Affairs, Adeola Oloko, on Thursday, the Olubadan said that he was aware of the high chiefs’ opposition to the ce...
